U.S. Department of Education.
This grant provides funds to initiate the expansion and improvement of physical education programs for grades kindergarten-12. Local Education Agencies and community-based organizations may apply. The deadline is March 24, 2008.

Team Nutrition Training Grant
USDA. Food and Nutrition Service.
Team Nutrition (TN) Training Grants for Healthy School Meals offer funding to State agencies to establish or enhance sustainable infrastructures for implementing Team Nutrition. State agencies (SA) that administer the National School Lunch Program and/or the Child and Adult Care Food Program are eligible to apply for a TN Training Grant.

General Mills.
Fifty $10,000 grants are awarded each year to community based groups that have developed new and creative ways to help kids improve their diet and incorporate physical activity into their lifestyle. Non-profit and not-for-profit local organizations may apply. The deadline for 2008 has passed, see website to apply for 2009 grant.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJH).
This program provides funding for research on promoting healthy eating among children to prevent obesity primarily in those groups at greatest risk. Grant applicant eligibility is very specific, see website for eligibility details and application deadlines.

Jump Rope for Heart Grant Program
American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD).
This grant is for Jump for Heart/Hoops for Heart coordinators who have held an event within the last year. Recipients will be granted membership to AAHPRED and the opportunity to attend the AAHPRED National Convention as well as funds to purchase new equipment for their physical education program. Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart Coordinators are the only possible applicants and recipients for this grant.

Love Your Veggies
Hidden Valley.
A nationwide school lunch campaign sponsored by Hidden Valley awarding grants to 51 elementary schools, one in every state. The grant supports programs to increase access and consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables during school meals. Elementary schools with an approved Wellness Policy may apply. Deadline has passed for 2008 grant, see website for 2009 application.
