Chefs Move to Schools

Greetings:

Thank you for your interest in the Chefs Move to Schools initiative. More than 2,700 chefs across the country are volunteering their time to help generate excitement about nutritious foods in schools through school gardens, cooking demonstrations, taste tests and more. The information you provided for your school has been added to the Chefs Move to Schools map. Participating chefs and schools are using this map to find interested partners in their area. A chef will use the information provided to contact you about working together, and you may also seek out a chef.

Contact a Chef in your area:

If your school hasn't matched with a chef yet, it's now even easier to get a partnership started. You can contact chefs in your area directly via email! First, search for chefs in your state. The names of chefs who have provided their email addresses are hyperlinked—click on the name of a chef to send them an email. Note: email addresses are not yet available for all chefs, but we continue to add more each day.

Preparation to work with your Chef:

Prior to the initial contact with the chef, get ready to identify your needs and a vision for how a chef can best support your efforts. The initial discussion will allow you to establish a successful partnership. Talk to school administrators, parents, foodservice staff about the goals of the Chefs Move to Schools initiative and encourage them to support the partnership. Finally, be ready to help the chef understand and comply with any State and local requirements that may apply to school volunteers.

Once you have agreed to establish a partnership with a chef, please let us know which chef you will be working with by updating your profile on the Chefs Move to Schools website. If you are already working with a chef who has not signed up, please encourage the chef to join here.
