Iowa Child and Adult Care Food Program.

This training module provides information about the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, explains how it applies to the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), includes best practice examples, and helpful resources. Resource includes 9 online lessons.


Parent School Breakfast Survey

Iowa Team Nutrition.

The University of Iowa conducted a survey of Iowa parents (n=8,982). The purpose of the survey was to 1) evaluate parents' knowledge of the school breakfast program at their child's school, 2) determine parent perceptions of the school breakfast program, and 3) identify general breakfast consumption behaviors of school-aged children.

The University of Iowa conducted an online survey of K-12 school administrators in the state of Iowa (n=152). The purpose of the survey was to better understand administrator perceptions, attitudes, and beliefs around the school breakfast program and determine barriers and facilitators to improving school breakfast program participation in Iowa schools.

Iowa Recess Before Lunch (July 2014)

Pilot programs were conducted in 3 Iowa elementary schools. Results per school building and a guide to assist schools in making the determination of moving recess before lunch are available.

Empowered Parents for School Wellness (2015) Empowered Parents for School Wellness

The 1 ½ hour workshop will empower parents to support school meals and lead change for school wellness. The school Food Service Director can “team up” to lead the workshop with a local Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), dietetic student, school nurse, health teacher, etc. Workshop materials include a leader guide, handouts, fact sheets, table tent awards, and myth and fact quiz.

Engaging Your Entire School in the Garden: Webinar (March 2015)

Move for Thought PK-K

Move for Thought is a resource to increase physical activity opportunities for Pre-K and Kindergarten. The strategies can be used to meet physical activity needs, improve physical literacy and fundamental gross motor skills, and develop physical, cognitive, social, and emotional skills. Resource includes 57 activities, 11 songs, and training presentation and materials.
