Mini grant proposals were written based on knowledge gained from the training and needs identified in the assessment results. This document provides highlights from the mini grant activities.
Making Wellness Work: A Guide to Implementing and Monitoring School Wellness Policies in MarylandMaryland State Department of Education; 2009.
The guide provides sample goals for each of the four required components of Wellness Policies -physical activity or education, nutrition standards, nutrition education, and other school-based activities that promote student wellness. In addition, each goal has specific implementation activities, steps to support implementation, expected outcomes, and monitoring opportunities.

This kit is a collection of supplementary lessons on nutrition and physical activity with an emphasis on role modeling. Intended as a teacher resource in the early childhood classroom, the kit is most appropriate for use with children ages three to five.

A collection of resources to help school food service staff, teachers and parents to support children's healthy eating habits in the school cafeteria. These resources are built on the 'the nudge', an environmental cue that influences behavior change. The cafeteria environment provides multiple opportunities to influence healthy eating behaviors of children.

Students use the Wellness Passport to track their participation in a variety of nutrition and physical activity related events at their school. The messages and information in the Passport motivate students to make healthier food choices and be physically active. Wellness Passports may be used to create friendly competition between classrooms, grades, and/or schools within the school system.
