FNS Child Nutrition Division Signs Partnership Agreement with the American Culinary Federation (ACF)
The FNS/Child Nutrition Division and the American Culinary Federation (ACF) have entered into a partnership agreement to recognize the mutual interest in improving the health of youth. Through the Recipes for Healthy Kids (R4HK) Competition and development and publication of youth-oriented recipes, the partnership will help promote healthier eating behaviors to school-age children, parents, community members and school nutrition professionals. The ACF, the largest professional organization of chefs in North America, provides accredited educational programs, certifications, competitions, and networking opportunities designed to enhance professional growth for all current and future chefs and pastry chefs. This partnership with ACF will bring expertise to assist in the development and judging of the R4HK competition due to their members' experience with culinary techniques, training programs, and competitions. This agreement establishes the framework for a cooperative public/private partnership that will implement actionable, quantifiable steps to support the R4HK outreach activities as well as enhance communication through information resources and conference activities to nationally promote healthier eating behaviors. Through this partnership, ACF members could assist local schools in the development of recipes, participation in Chefs Move to Schools, and in planning media events. Joining together to implement specific initiatives provides a unique opportunity to unify and strengthen the public health message and promote healthier foods and beverages in America's schools.

Let's Move!, in association with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), challenged school nutrition professionals, chefs, students, parents and interested community members to create tasty, healthy, exciting new recipes for inclusion on school lunch menus across the country.
